The first proper Hellraiser game has just been revealed with Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival. Looks like it will be a good one for fans of classic horror blended with modern game design.

More about it:

Experience a new chapter in the legendary horror series like never before. Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival takes first-person action horror survival to the next level.

Play the story of Aidan, who must use the power of a mysterious puzzle box – the Genesis Configuration – to help his girlfriend Sunny’s escape from the otherworldly hellscape of the Labyrinth.

Wield the powers of the box to survive your bargain with the infamous Pinhead and do battle with the horrific cult devoted to the Cenobites.

From the press release Clive Barker, creator of the Hellraiser franchise, said: "Working on the first true Hellraiser game has been a venture deep into the recesses of my darkest imaginings. The dedication that Saber and Boss Team Games have shown is nothing short of remarkable. They've immersed themselves in the Hellraiser universe, capturing its essence - the seductive pull of suffering, the beauty within the grotesque - and forged a narrative that invites players to step beyond the threshold. I'm eager for both the curious and the damned to experience this new chapter in the Hellraiser mythos, where every moment balances on the brink of nightmare and revelation".

"Hellraiser is the quintessential horror franchise, and lends itself perfectly to a video game," said Matthew Karch, CEO and co-founder of Saber Interactive. "Saber has had success with horror IPs in the past, and working alongside Clive to create tense gameplay and a new story that delves into the twisted depths of pain and pleasure has been a real treat. We look forward to opening up the gates of hell."

It's also been confirmed that actor Doug Bradley will return to voice Pinhead in the game.

Game Highlights:

  • A New Story in Hellraiser's Canon – Unwittingly kickstart Pinhead’s ritual to unleash greater pain and pleasure than ever before.
  • Harness the Power of the Box – Combine the unique, hellish abilities of the Configuration with an arsenal of earthly weapons to inflict bone-breaking, flesh-searing pain - or is it pleasure? - upon masochistic enemies.
  • Fight Against Unholy Enemies – Take on hell's wretches, deviants, cultists, and even its most infernal priests in a story-driven horror survival game.

Will this be one you're going to be picking up? I'm really surprised we haven't seen something like this before for the Hellraiser universe but it sounds like horror fans are in for a real treat.

I'm glad they brought Doug Bradley back for Pinhead's voice. Should be interesting to see what they do with the franchise. The first two movies were brilliant, but then the series lost its way, I thought.

Cool, bring it on!
Why "Clive Barker's Jericho" was removed?

We need a Phantasm game.

If only they done this a long time ago while the Tall Man was still alive because he could've been the voice for the game. I guess they'll have to use AI to generate his voice unless they can find someone to play his role.

Looks impressive.

Clive Barker's Night Breed also looked impressive on the Amiga; though the gameplay, ... well ...

Saber Interactive is a hard pass for me, unfortunately.

What I would like is another Clive Barker's Undying game. Or maybe the old one can have a remake.
