The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is getting quite a big update soon, with version 1.2 now in Beta on Steam.

As usual for a Bethesda game, it came with lots of issues but with their partners at Virtuos they've been clearly busy trying to make it a worthy game to fully play through. The majority of the update is fixing up bugs players have encountered, along with adding in some additional difficulty settings to tweak your experience. However, they've also done various optimisations to improve performance too - so perhaps it might actually deserve that Steam Deck Verified rating eventually.

To access it you need to own it on Steam and go into the Properties -> Betas. There's no password on it.

Full list of changes:

SETTINGS CHANGES

  • We’ve added additional difficulty settings to allow players to further tune their “Player Combat Damage” & “Enemy Combat Damage”. Players can now select from “Novice”, “Apprentice”, “Adept”, “Journeyman”, “Expert”, and “Master” options in the Gameplay menu. The difficulty settings should help a ton with people getting too bored about halfway through. That's where you start to steamroll combat in anything but the highest setting, but the highest setting just becomes a slog. So hopefully these new changes can help with that.

Just whatever you do, stay away from the weapon enchanting table ... it breaks the game and renders all combat nonexistant, like it doesn't even exist. So if you do start enchanting weapons, the game just turns into a walking sim / questing / narrative game.

I never played Oblivion, but I recently found this animated cartoon comedy series by Matthew McCleskey that I enjoy a lot ( https://youtube.com/watch?v=-D9iQ68k2d4 )

Well this is good news, but my faith is shaken and will not be spending more than $20.00 on it someday.
