Back in May we had the announcement that Open Fortress is coming to Steam, and the latest update on their progress sounds great for this Team Fortress 2 mod.

What is it? A full standalone mod of Valve's TF2. The developer said it "builds on Team Fortress 2’s world-famous gunplay to create a smooth, stylish experience inspired by old-school FPS games" to bring all new maps, new game modes, new guns and an original soundtrack along with taking some inspiration from 1970s action flicks.

In the latest Steam announcement the mod team announced that work has completed on porting it to the new official TF2 SDK that Valve released back in February. The devs of Open Fortress say they can now upload builds to Steam which will be soon but "not yet". While the "titanic effort of getting Open Fortress SDK-compatible is over" they're still working to bring it up to a fully polished level. This includes improving lots of weapon models, refining maps, remastered sounds and more.
