Neanderthallica blends a prehistoric world with a twist of sci-fi, a puzzle-metroidvania that's now supported on Linux and macOS.
In the game you have to master the ability to change the weather, altering the environment and battles. Craft unique gear and weapons, and explore hidden secrets as you journey through humour-filled stone age. Originally released in June, the game received an update August 15th as part of the Ukrainian Games Festival which added in Native versions for Linux and macOS. The update also fixes up a few issues and makes combat feel "punchier".

Why do you have to mention "Ukrainian devs"? Does that make their "game" better than if it wasn't "Ukrainian devs"?
I think we should assess games on their quality not on who they are made by

You're free to do so, and others might consider other aspects as well (like supporting people living in a country having been assaulted and forced into a war). Both should be fine for everybody, in my humble opinion.
... and then, you did see the part about the Ukrainian Games Festival?

Why do you have to mention "Ukrainian devs"?And why exactly does this bother you?

It bothers me because you dont see similar cheap and frankly offensive marketing from other game devs.
Nobody says "X game made by American devs" or "Y game made by Iraqi devs" or "Z game made by Chinese devs".
This is just an attempt to get cheap marketing off of peoples suffering and takes away from what actually matters - the quality of the game and turning it into something "political"

What does the "Ukrainian" Game Festival have to do with anything? This is a article specifically highlighting that the game was made by Ukrainians - as if thst makes their game any better than anyone elses
We should ostracize anyone who engages in this political grandstanding and assess fames purely on merit

I don't care for the Ukraine politically from a left anti-imperialist standpoint, and especially don't care for the stupid imperialist false narratives about them (in general, not just the current bullshit. I'm anti-war.) But right-wing hypocrites and them trying to use false equality arguments in their pseudo-skepticism about this (or anything for that matter) is even worse. 🙄

There have been plenty of examples for years of gaming news sites mentioning the country of origin of developers whether they are from Africa, South America, or Europe. This is not novel or uncommon. Acting like it is, and getting outraged at the mere mention of the name of any given country? that is the true politically motivated commentary.
This performative melodrama is disingenuous at best, and an individual that calls to ostracize anyone who disagrees with themselves seems uncouth. I personally do not care for such selfish distractions from what the vast majority of this community is here for.
Read the room would be my advice.

As stated in the article and in my first answer, the game is part of the Ukrainian Game Festival. Which might happen to have something to do with stating that the devs are Ukrainian.
By the way, I wonder why you are writing the country's name in quotation marks.

I bought Foxtrail, though I fear it will never be finished, because the devs are Ukrainian, and suffer under this war.
