NVIDIA released driver version 580.82.09 which is the new recommended driver, although it only has a single fix but an important one for some users. This follows on from the 580.82.07 driver released on September 2nd which had a few more fixes.
The one-liner for this update is:
- Updated the driver to fall back to 8 BPC when 10 BPC output is not supported for a particular mode. This prevents some HDMI displays from showing a black screen.
Sounds like that is quite an annoying issue, good to see it solved so people aren't pulling their hair out trying to figure out why their Linux system is giving a black screen.
Hopefully soon we'll actually finally see that VKD3D / DirectX12 game optimization actually in a released driver, but it might still be a few months away as NVIDIA never give an actual roadmap or timings on anything. Unlike Mesa, which has a dedicated release schedule.
NVIDIA also released the 570.190 driver as well for the older series, which includes this one-liner:
- Minor bug fixes and improvements.
