THE FINALS is a popular online shooter which has the anti-cheat enabled for Linux / SteamOS and Steam Deck and with Season 8 it has a lot new.

Currently, you'll need Proton Experimental to play it due to it having fixes for some crashes during matches. This and more is noted on our dedicated anti-cheat page. Changes are coming though. They've announced that they'll be moving forward with Denuvo Anti-Cheat (not Denuvo DRM) as their previous testing was a success. It will be an incremental rollout, so more systems will see it over time.

They've also "asked VAIIYA to build a solution for us, which is a complicated and time consuming effort" and on top of that they're also partnering with Anybrain and have "rolled out their solution to a small percentage of our playerbase as a test with plans to continue throughout Season 8".

As per their previous announcements we've covered on GamingOnLinux, they do plan to keep Linux compatibility going.

Big respect to the developers for keeping up Linux and SteamOS compatibility which is rare to see with competitive shooters.
