Originally released in 1998, Plane Crazy from Inner Workings returns with the newer Plane Crazy Championship Edition from ZOOM Platform. At the original release it had a pretty mixed rating, partly due to the high difficulty of it. New in this edition:

  • Support for high resolutions.
  • Modern gamepad support.
  • Additional quality of life configuration options:
    • Auto-skip all intros.
    • Invertible Y-Axis when using gamepads.
    • Permanent first person cockpit view option.
  • Modern system compatibility and crash fixes, ensuring the game runs smoothly on today’s hardware and operating systems.

Over an email to GamingOnLinux a ZOOM Platform rep mentioned they aimed to ensure it worked smoothly on Linux via Wine / Proton and they noted: "To get technical for a bit, the last thing we were waiting for was figuring out the best way to force the native version of a dll we use that wraps the controller API to map the analog controls to modern controllers.
For Steam, we asked Valve to update Proton. It's live already via experimental and our Steam app is pinned to that version.

zoom-platform.sh will just use that same fix through Proton by utilizing the UMU database to link our ID with the Steam appid."

Plane Crazy Championship Edition | Release Date: 13th October 2025
