Because there was always going to be some drama in deep space right? Stardeus is a spaceship colony sim that just expanded in a huge way.
The Story and Drama Update brings with it a huge overhaul and expansion to the narrative systems. They said it includes "new levels of narrative depth, social complexity, and emotional storytelling to the colony simulation experience" which sounds quite fancy. You may find some colonists now might get a bit stabby towards another if they're annoyed enough with them — ouch.
Stardeus is just a overall lot more social now with lots more interactions between colonists like a bit of casual chat or even weddings, there's a lot that can happen in a run now.
What we get is a completely rebuilt story generation system, which is supposed to be more flexible to provide a vast range of dynamic story events. You'll also get to see a new raid management system with it being influenced by colony strength, recent losses, and other in-game factors along with new types of raids to up the challenge.
Update Overview:
- New Story Generation System.
- New Raid System and Raid Types.
- New Colony Drama System and Social Relationships.
- Visible Eyes and Unique Faces.
- New Story Events.
- Ashes, Urns, and Mourning.
- Scars and Cause of Death.
- Fire and Explosions.
- UI Improvements.
The changelog is rather long (seriously - that's a lot of additions) and there's a 23 minutes video from the developer that goes over all of it:

This might end up as one of the deepest strategy games around.
Stardeus has Native Linux support and Valve rated it Steam Deck Verified.
