Paradox Interactive have announced that Surviving Mars: Relaunched is now set to blast off on November 10th with a discount for owners of the original. Valve have also given it a Steam Deck Playable / SteamOS Compatible rating ahead of release. The main issue for the Steam Deck being some text that's too small.

With this re-release you get everything the original had, expansions and all. Plus upgraded visuals, an improved UI, and the all-new Martian Assembly in-game political mechanics, better modding support and various other general improvements to the game.

We're also going to see two expansions coming next year - Feeding the Future and Machine Utopia. The first will focus on expanding food and production systems, introducing deeper management options, and meal choices that affect comfort and sanity. The second with Machine Utopia will introduce mechanized labor and massive industrial options to the red planet.

The latest video on the game can be seen below, going over some of the end-game:

The base price will be $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99 but if you own the original it will be $19.99 / £17.50 / €19.99. They've also announced the pricier Ultimate Edition which comes with an Expansion Pass for the two planned expansions. The Ultimate Edition will be $59.99 / £49.99 / €59.99 or $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99 if you have the original game.

I still love the original but it wasn't without flaws, I'm hopeful this release goes well, at least better than Paradox have been doing with their other games lately. I still feel a little uneasy about re-selling the game with updates, to push even more with expansions again though but it's quite typical of Paradox - they no doubt want the relaunch to be the basis for even more expansions after.

Well, it may have its flaws, but I survived Outpost. Remember that one? Talking about flaws. emoji

I liked the original, might give this a try at 19,99 if it's a native build

No Native build this time.

Paradox double-dip? That's a "hell no".

Hard pass. Loved the original game, but not enough to hand over cash for what any other game would be a free update.

Hamaimont Games, the original devs, haven't been involved for a long time now. The last two DLC were not well received (buggy, poor design) so it's hard to get excited over more. So I'm not seeing the attraction, tbh. It's just a cash grab.

Haemimont Games are the ones doing this still.

They didn't do the previous two DLC as I understand it. Assumed since the original studio last worked on it with Green Planet in 2019 they probably wouldn't now but who knows. Would be surprised if the original dev team was still together.
