A once popular Flash game has returned and it's now available on Steam, all thanks to a superfan who didn't want to let it die. That game is Dungeon Rampage, a 1-4 player co-op hack-n-slash dungeon crawler.
Originally playable on Facebook of all places, back in the era of Flash games where Facebook had quite a lot of them (anyone remember FarmVille?). Originally taken offline in 2017, the game's revival was sparked by Angelos Mako, a fan who spent a third of their lifetime tracking down the original developers. At just 17, Mako helped recover the lost source code and secured the game’s rights before partnering with industry veterans at Gamebreaking Studios to bring their childhood favourite back to life. It has a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised a surprising $70,463 from 1,603 back in June 2025.

“This game means so much to me,” says Mako. “I’ve been waiting for this day for over eight years, and I’m thrilled to see old-time players and newcomers crawl through these dungeons together.”
According to the press email it no longer has any micro-transactions, and has been upgraded into a proper single-purchase game with everything unlocked just by playing it. They also claim some "anti-cheat measures have been implemented" but unclear what and Valve rated it Steam Deck Playable, along with ProtonDB reports showing it working fine.
Some major updates are planned for it to include controller support, more heroes and a new roguelite challenge mode.
It launched into Steam Early Access in December, and currently has a Very Positive rating from players. I love seeing a little success story like this, especially when prompted by fans.
Quoting: Linux_RocksIf advergames are gonna exist at all, better that they be non-toxic like those vs bullshit like America's Army. You refer to the one funded by the US Army, that once upon a time was paying icculus to port it?

Or something else? Just confused, since that wasn't a Flash game, but I suppose the comparison was for "advergames".
As for Dungeon Rampage - doesn't look like my cup of tea, but I love the background story!
