Goverlay is a useful tool for configuring the likes of MangoHud, vkBasalt, and OptiScaler. Recently it arrived on Flathub, and a major new update is out. Making configuring everything a whole lot easier!
If you're confused:
- MangoHud - an overlay to display things like FPS, frame timings, temperatures and a lot more.
- vkBasalt - a Vulkan post processing layer to enhance game visuals.
- OptiScaler - bridges upscaling/frame gen across different GPUs,
The developer just released Goverlay 1.7.0 that replaces the "Global Enable" option with a new FGMod-based "Auto Enable" system. There's also a new "Proton Tweaks" tab with dedicated one-click features for various options like simulating a Steam Deck, enabling Wayland support, GameMode, custom environment variables and so on.
For the Optiscaler support there's also a new FP8 emulation toggle for older GPUs and more.
Nice to see this open source app continue to evolve to add even more useful features. Certainly beats hand-editing various different config files if you like to mess around with advanced options when gaming on Linux.

Goverlay started as a GUI for overlay (mangohud), but the scope got broader. I'm thinking about rebrand the project. Maybe some community feedback / suggestions would be cool.
Quoting: benjamimgoisThanks for the post Liam ! GamingonLinux recognition makes a lot of difference.I like the word conductor for an app like this, as it's managing many parts of a performance. Game Conductor is the obvious choice if that word is included, but I'm sure there are other variations that would work too. I'll admit, Goverlay was a technical enough sounding name that I did not do the research I should have when hearing it for the first time. I assumed this was something lower in the stack that I wouldn't be interested in configuring, but it's quite the opposite and I'll be trying it out immediately!
