The newer MicroProse are picking up some good stuff lately, and one I missed during December was the announcement of first-person mech sim Steel Bounty.

I'll admit, they suckered me totally on this one. I have fond memories playing through a fair few mech games in my earlier gaming years, and we don't see a whole lot of them getting made nowadays. Rather than going with a gritty MechWarrior style, it looks a fair bit more colourful more like the first-person shooter Ravenfield.

From the press release: "In Steel Bounty, players lead a mercenary company operating across a dynamic star system. Every mission outcome and strategic decision influences the wider campaign, shaping the economy, unlocking new opportunities, and altering the balance of power. From managing finances and resources to recruiting and training pilots, success depends as much on leadership as on combat skill."

whoa that looks awesome! Looks super retro and modern at the same time. Love the art style. Let's wait and see how the gameplay holds up, but if its decent they could have something really great here.

Hhmmm.... Why does this look exactly like an extension gameplay to Carrier Command 2? 😅

As a retro game enthusiast, I really like what MicroProse is doing.
