Wipe away infections from the family computer in the nostalgic Windows XP styled Antivirus Survivors 2003 Professional later this year, with a new trailer live. Covered previously on GamingOnLinux back in September 2025, I am genuinely looking forward to this one because it brings all the fun of bullet heaven survivor-likes to quite an amusing setting.

For anyone who used Windows back in the days of Windows XP, you may know all too well the feeling of coming on to find all sorts of things going wrong. Internet explorer full of advert spyware toolbars, ad pop-ups everywhere and more. I have a feeling blasting through things on this is going to be very satisfying.

From the Steam page: "In Antivirus Survivors 2003 Professional, dive headfirst into a corrupted file browser where rogue viruses run wild and your cursor fights back. Traverse through folders as you dodge voids, fight malware, and scramble around spam pop-ups. Consider a multitude of weapon combinations, search for XP and apply the rarest upgrades to create the best chance of survival against treacherous waves of danger.

With intense rogue-like action and a deep love for early-2000s computer operating systems, this is a blast of pure Y2K nostalgia served in roughly 30-minute runs."

Game Highlights:

  • Fight back with OS-inspired weapons including the Pinball, Firewall, C: Drive and many more
  • Navigate a corrupted file browser, jumping between infected folders and double-clicking suspicious programs
  • Experience unique runs every time with player and weapon upgrades of varying rarity
  • Endure escalating waves of infected enemies and hold out long enough to avoid the blue screen of death
  • Immerse yourself in a vibrant Y2K-inspired aesthetic packed with charm and all the nostalgic vibes
  • Designed for big or small screens, keyboards or controllers. Play it your way!

Ooh! Looks great! I just got a similar game during the Steam Winter Sale called Desktop Survivors 98, and it's been pretty fun.

I have this idea of making a game about fighting computer viruses, and the difficulty settings are Linux and Windows, and then the Linux difficulty doesn't have any enemies 😁
