Steam Deck hits 25,000 games Valve have rated Playable or Verified

With over 100,000 games on Steam - verifying all of that takes a long time but the Steam Deck now has over 25,000 that are Steam Deck Playable or Verified. The last major milestone of 20,000 games was hit back in June 2025.

There will of course be issues at times since no verification system is going to be perfect, but Valve's checks at least give a starting point to what you can play on Steam Deck. And with this system set to be expanded in 2026 with the release of the new Steam Frame and Steam Machine, we'll be seeing Steam Machine Verified and Steam Frame Verified to go with it. Text sizing has me a little worried though, as does the ongoing issues with anti-cheat so I do hope Valve continue to pull in more game developers to improve things for gamers and improve their own checks during the verification process. Trust in it will be a key issue for the hardware expansion.

As of right now the numbers are (via SteamDB):

  • Verified - 7,518
  • Playable - 17,492
  • Unsupported - 6,054

Some of what's marked Unsupported is due to anti-cheat which we're tracking on a dedicated page.

A key point to remember - this is only what Valve have put through their testing. There's a lot more than will just work completely out of the box. Some games marked Unsupported also do actually work. Valve don't stop you trying anything.

Looking back on the ratings here's a few cherry-picked games I thought were interesting that got the big green Steam Deck Verified tick over the last few months:

The Steam Deck with SteamOS Linux has also helped push the Linux share on Steam to a new all-time high recently.

2026 is going to be a huge year for Linux gaming overall.

I was wondering when the next milestone was going to be covered. 5K markers are nice. I'm excited for the rest of 2026!
