The striking-looking number puzzle game Stip is more than meets the eye

Stip already pulled me in with the interesting and clean looking visuals, but now I want to know more about what's really going on here. A Metroidbrainia? Whatever that means, but I need it now.

From the creator of Midnight Protocol, a tactical hacking narrative-driven RPG, this is not just a simple puzzle game with numbers. There's something going on under the surface.

You have to place numbers in a series of dots with certain constraints that aren't always clear - requiring you to experiment and figure out the meaning. The press release noted how the puzzles are laid out in maze-like rooms with secrets hiding and puzzles will "start to misbehave", requiring you to peel back the layers to find more secrets and special puzzles. A puzzle game on the surface but with a narrative layer of secrets throughout.

That trailer really got my attention for sure.

Game Highlights:

  • Number Puzzle Goodness | Do you want to sit down and play some relaxing number puzzles? Stip can be that game for you. Find comfort in some quick deductions and dopamine-inducing special effects.
  • An Intricate Puzzle Box | Stip’s puzzles are laid out in rooms that have their own puzzles. Use items, manipulate the environment, and look for hidden clues to find more secrets hidden within.
  • Rule Discovery | Players will need to think laterally by deducing constraints, finding hidden puzzle rules that give them an edge, and pulling on threads that the game wants to keep from them.
  • The puzzles are evil | Stip is a virus, a parasite that craves your attention. It’ll offer you new mechanics to keep you engaged, make numbers go up, and offer you motivational confetti to keep you from looking too closely and push you to keep solving puzzles.
  • Transmedia Clues | Keep your eyes on social media, trailers, real-life events, store pages and even the press releases, as they may contain hidden codes to unlock more secrets!

It releases sometime later in 2026.
