Behaviour Interactive have announced today that they've acquired 7 Days to Die developers The Fun Pimps.
Selling over 20 million copies, 7 Days to Die remains as one of the most popular zombie survival games around. With The Fun Pimps now part of Behaviour Interactive, they will continue to lead development on 7 Days to Die but with the backing of another developer to expand and keep updating the game.
From the press release:
“We’re truly excited to welcome The Fun Pimps,” stated Rémi Racine, Behaviour’s CEO and Co-Founder. ‘’Over more than a decade, 7 Days to Die has established itself as a beloved franchise, inspiring more than 20 million players. It fits naturally within Behaviour’s goal of assembling a diverse, high-quality horror portfolio. It’s also an ideal complement to Dead by Daylight – both games have steadily grown alongside their communities. We look forward to celebrating the game’s community by supporting The Fun Pimps’ creative vision.”
“This is a huge moment for our game and our business,” stated Richard Huenink, The Fun Pimps’ Co-Founder. “When we started this company thirteen years ago, we never imagined 7 Days to Die would become what it is today. That growth has come from our community, who have driven our game forward from the beginning. To keep giving them what they deserve, we knew we needed a partner who shared our ambitious vision for the future. Behaviour turned out to be exactly that.’’

And here I won't be exception.
I sunk thousands of hours in 7DTD, I IS a good game.
But for decades all improvements were pure coming in regards to looting tweaking/vehicles and increase of textures of the game.
When comes to actual coding - game was and still is in poor optimization state.
I have decent rig. 7900 XTX, 1440P. I have mid/high settings without path tracing but with ray tracing and without frame generation, 60-100 fps, in Cyberpunk 2077, usually around 70-80 FPS. It looks fantastic.
This game, 10 years in development, looked like shit 10 years ago, still does now.(it did improve, but again, at expense of textures + added a few nice lightning effects). Outside of major cities - it performs A OK. Not an eye candy, but around 100 FPS. But go inside of mid/high populated cities and its a slug fest.expect frame drops, and 40FPS. Still no human/raider AI yet.
I wonder how much performance is shit to do with the fact that all environment but traders is completely destructible?
But yeah, looks like someone is about to retire.
