Ready for some more investigating? The Darkside Detective: Backside of the Moon from Spooky Doorway has a first demo available with Linux support.

Initially announced during the 2025 Unity Awards showcase, Detective McQueen and Officer Dooley are back in action to crack the paranormal cases of Twin Lakes once more in the 3rd installment of the titular series. Fans of the series or newcomers alike can dive into six spooky cases and appreciate the city of Twin Lakes – a beautifully handcrafted, pixel-art universe and narrative, quirky inhabitants with at least one strange occurrence per case, guaranteed!

The demo covers the first half of the first case, “Honey, I Shrunk the Detectives,” which I’m sure you can guess– is about Dooley and McQueen getting shrunk to the size of mice in the Darkside Division offices. Talking rats! Magical artifacts! Particularly poor plumbing! This case has everything, so give it a try.

“It should come as no small surprise that we’ve come scurrying back to The Darkside Detective - we can’t wait for people to take a little time away from the rat race and shrink their teeth into the new cases. We hope you take our bait and try the new demo!” - Dave McCabe, Narrative Lead

I found the second part ok, but not great. I too often got the respective generic "I don't understand" answer, even for very reasonable stuff I tried.
