Looks like Framework were onto something with their Linux support huh? The Framework Laptop 13 Pro is their "MacBook Pro for Linux users" and it's selling out. It's starting to look even closer to that fabled year of Linux on the desktop.

The new release from Framework has been so popular that it has already sold out on multiple batches. On April 23rd, their official X/Twitter account stated:

Framework Laptop 13 Pro is selling far above our forecast, and we've sold out of the first six batches already. Also nice validation of our approach, the Ubuntu configurations are outselling the Windows ones!

Looking at it right now, they're onto Batch 9 which will ship in August so it continues massively selling out. That's on both the DIY edition and the pre-builts with Ubuntu or Windows.

We're seeing some nice early praise for it too, with developer Thomas Crider (known as "GloriousEggroll") who made GE-Proton and Nobara Linux, mentioning on X/Twitter:

@FrameworkPuter were kind enough to send out one of their new Framework Pro Intel 358H Ultra x7 models to us for testing, happy to report Nobara runs beautifully on it, and Kernel 7 runs great with fully functional wifi/bt, sleep/hibernate, and freakishly good battery life.

The CachyOS team also posting on X/Twitter put up a thread with some glowing words on it like:

We’ve had access to an engineering sample of the new Framework Laptop 13 Pro for about a month ahead of the announcement, and our biggest takeaway is this: it finally feels like a genuinely premium Framework.

The first thing that stood out to us was the build quality.

Noting in a follow-up post they've been surprised by the battery life, as they've been seeing "around two days of normal work" on it.

Quite impressive to see. Hopefully Framework with Linux will continue to do well, showing people how great Linux can actually be along with repairable modular hardware. The best of all worlds together.

A company like Framework probably attracts many Linux users with their philosophy and all that. So it's not necessarily that surprising.
But they're not that small of a company anymore. Which means we're talking about quite a decent number of Linux users regardless.
Gotta love seeing a company advocating for repair rights, respecting the customer and embracing Linux being successful.

I’m still surprised to see so many open source/libre developers and companies on the nazi social network after everything that’s happened. It’s not a good look.

I just ordered one and it says Batch 10. So, maybe in 2026? 😅
I have been on the fence for a framework laptop for years now. Also, the 16gb ram alone was $335CAD.
Not sure if I'll put Ubuntu on it or see if Bazzite has decent support.
