Steam To Electric is an upcoming voxel rail tycoon building sim that gives you some wild (but very real) historical train inventions.

We all know trains are awesome, just some of you are afraid to admit your love for them right? Anyway, From the creators of Station to Station and Town to City this new management sim Steam To Electric looks like it has some really fun ideas. Steam To Electric has you build up and optimise your own railway network, transporting passengers and goods around while you unlock some rather fancy looking trains that you possibly have never seen before.

The adorable voxel styling to it looks great too, giving the world and the trains plenty of detail the model design here is quite impressive too.

From the press release: "As a huge fan of trains and of management games myself, it's a dream come true to make a game about some of the boldest railway innovations,” says game director Joost van Dongen. “From a train powered by literal jet engines to one that drives on a single rail and is kept upright through a complex gyro system, it's hard to believe that some of these have really existed. But they did, and they worked! In Steam to Electric, we’re giving these amazing inventions a beautiful homage by letting you build them.”

Game Highlights:

  • A deep yet accessible railway tycoon experience.
  • Crazy-but-real historical train inventions.
  • Elegant voxel art with Art Deco influence.
  • 25+ real historic trains.
  • Sandbox mode.
  • Short sessions with long-term mastery.

It's due out sometime this year but they're not saying exactly when just yet.

Hm, sounds like more of a gadgetbahn tycoon, but still interesting.
I got recommended the trailer and thought it was cool that there was the weird engines from history and now I think it would be funny if British Railways UFO patent would be in the game.
