An update on the GOL Podcast, we need help

By - | Views: 12,944
I know it's been a while since the last podcast. The co-hosts and I have just had life getting in the way, having to unfortunately be adults. So for all of us it is either work, or our personal lives at the moment that is keeping us from putting out the show in a timely manner. So I wanted to give everyone an update.

What we need from the community
- 2 more hosts that can fill in when someone can not make it
- Someone willing to take on the responsibility of editing the show

The first one is pretty straight forward. The second one can be pretty labour intensive. So just to give an example of the amount of stuff that gets cut. Episode 4 which has currently not been edited is 4 hours in length. We try cutting that down to around 1.5 hours or so. As there tends to be tangents onto side topics, who doesn't enjoy a good debate about desktop environments! We try to edit out cursing to keep that to a minimum, and other things.

As you can see the most labour intensive part of the process is the audio editing, which essentially is an all day task. This responsibility would be shared between myself, and the other editor. As the format for the show is twice a month. I would edit one, and the other person would edit the others.

All you need is a decent microphone, fluent English, and a willingness to use Google Hangouts as it's how we record. So if you would like to be a co-host or an editor for the show comment below! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I actually would like to be in the podcast / help with the podcast / be a co-host. Maybe two problems: 1. My english is far from perfect (although it would be very good for practise :D ) and 2. when it happens (time; which is the bigger / maybe only problem).

Depending on timing I can help with the hosting side of it.

Talking on a podcast as a co-host sound scary xD.
Im swedish and Im shy, its kinde of in my nature.

But I dont mind editing the podcast for you.
Its been a while sence I last edited, and that was mainly video editing.
But the basics is the same.

Send me a pm and we can chat more over there if it sounds intressting.

Might be able to audio edit. Pretty damn good at it.

I would definitely be interested in both hosting and editing. I'm certainly no stranger to audio editing! I've used more than a few flavors of Linux as well.

I'd be interested in hosting :) And the timing would be good, since that would be 5pm in my state. I'm no Cheese, but I've studied some game design, and have plenty of games and contentious opinions :P

Though I don't know if I'd be up for a 4 hour session, 2-3 hours would probably be my limit ^^;

Does everyone record their audio seperately?

So midnight in summer and 11pm in winter (Austria). As you said it lasts for something about 4 hours which is then really quite late ^^ but I actually could make it work for me. :)

I think for myself and possibly others to get involved it would need the session time to be cut down, so the actual chat would need to be steered in the right direction a little more which would help with that (which then also cuts down on editing time).
