I found out about this because someone posted a thread about their Tech Demo "The Hunt" on the Phoronix forums. It is a new 3D engine which looks like it is trying to take a bite out of Unity. It's weapon? It is completely cross platform! Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, Wii, etc...

The aforementioned "The Hunt" game looks kind of cool, and has a native client, although I have yet to try it.

It is nice to see someone tackling the problem of Unity.

Awesome, I have a few friends that are working on a game using Unity as the Engine. Perhaps I can convince them to switch for the next one.

Surely you still have Firefox installed though? I personally find quite a bit of value in having multiple browsers installed on the same machine.

Shiva 3D, Unity, Unigine, ...
While it's nice to see more commercial games coming to GNU/Linux, I'm not sure I like more closed-sourced engines coming to it, especially when other libre engines are available... :/
I would prefer the libre engines being improved through use and support by more companies.

It is not so much that libre engines need technical improvements, it is mostly that since the authors can not provide proper commercial level support, many developers may avoid them. There is very little that can not be accomplished with DarkPlaces technically for example. But many developers would rather go with an option where if they run into trouble there is someone there to help them. At least, that is my take on this.
