TechCompliant Linux client in the works!
Gobo 24 Dec, 2016

Surprised nobody seems to have mentioned the game here...

TechCompliant is the spiritual successor to 0x10c, the project Notch ditched while he was still at Mojang. Both games feature a scifi space theme centered around the idea of having access to virtual CPUs, called DCPU, that can be programmed by the players and keep running even after they log off. In addition to the DCPU itself, there are a variety of expansions available, like displays, navigation systems, sensors, network interfaces and such. So players will be able to automate tasks, rewire their ships and stations and swap code with each other.

TechCompliant picked up the DCPU specifications that had already sprouted a number of emulators, so old projects can be run or easily ported over. And Notch gave the project the thumbs up and even got featured ingame by a small bobblehead figurine.

The development has hit a somewhat public alpha stage that should have started yesterday, but they postponed it to have the linux client ready as well.

More info:
- announcement on Reddit
- official page (almost empty)
- page (includes the public windows download of the client)
- Twitter account (lots of development info and screenshots)

Why should anyone care about a Windows-only game?

Quoting: stanWhy should anyone care about a Windows-only game?

Well, as the title indicated and the last sentence backed up, there is a linux client in the works and it has such a high priority that they will delay the public testing until the penguin is ready to release.
