Personally I recommend AirVPN
It's run by the Italian Pirate party and they care a lot about your privacy, there are NO logs anywhere and you get 3 simultaneous connections.
My referral link ( earns me some free vpn time if you register ) https://airvpn.org/?referred_by=169078
Clean link if you think that's iffy : https://airvpn.org/
The forum is active and the staff very knowledgable. It comes with an easy to use client ( eddie ), but if you need help installing vpn on your toaster or doing split routing* on you router the forum is a goldmine.
I spent a lot of time researching providers before settling on AirVPN, if your want to do research your self torrentfreak publishes an anual VPN provider survey;
https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-services-anonymous-review-2017-170304/
*) Reason for doing split routing is that some services such as netflix is very VPN unfriendly, though last I checked the airVPN server guys had beaten it - still I route around if anyway so I can get local subs :)
And the price is quite a bit different - most consumer VPN subscriptions are less than ~60€ pa. I can't imagine you can rent even a virtual server for that ;)

Though strangely the list does not contain anything as to how each VPN provider adresses privacy of it's customers in the face of court orders, etc.
