Vulkan on my Ubuntu works if I run vulkan-smoketest

well you are using PlayOnLinux it seems, does it even have vulkan enabled in its wine packages?

ajgp commented on 21 April 2018 at 8:28 am UTC

I found I needed to download wine from the lutris ftp and use that to get dxvk working as POL's wine didn't seem to include any vulkan components.

The Wine 3.6 packages (both staging and devel) in the WineHQ repository for Ubuntu should include Vulkan support. I assume you can use system Wine in POL?

These are the Vulkan files of Wine 3.6

I think I need a real winevulkan.dll file inside the C:\Windows\System32 and not a fake one, because of the winevulkan.json..

  "file_format_version": "1.0.0",
  "ICD": {
    "library_path": "c:\\windows\\system32\\winevulkan.dll",
    "api_version": "1.1.70"

PlayOnLinux's Wine builds currently don't support Vulkan.

Yeah, use WineHQ builds or build Wine yourself.

I install the windows version of vulkan into the playonlinux virtual drive that houses the game. Then copy the dvxk files over and turn them on in winecfg. Vulkan plus dvxk works very well with Playonlinux. You just have to install it after you create the playonlinux drive. I generally create a virtual drive for each game as some older games prefer older versions of wine.
