So, in a few posts (The Sega Genesis one and MachiaVillain) I was complaining that the performance was messed up. I knew it was my setup because it works fine in my Arch Linux setup.

Well I think I figured out why! Got the Hardware Survey today (like only the second time in the many years I've been using Linux) and it says under my video card.

Video Card:
Driver. VMware, Inc. llvmpipe (LLVM 6.0, 256bits)
Driver Version: 3.0 Mesa 18.0.4
OpenGL Version: 3.0
Desktop Color Depth: 24 bits per pixel
Monitor Refresh Rate: 143hz

So that explains that! Must be running mesa for 32bit games. This was actually my suspicion all along.
