spoonie_au commented on 9 February 2020 at 11:42 am UTC

I was digging thought some old boxes the other day with my son and he came across Quake4 and thanks to the guide from Hamish
https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/playing-quake-4-on-linux-in-2018.11017 I was able to get the game up and running again for my son to play.

I also found my SE Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Aaaaa the first real BF style multiplayer game that work really well under Linux, the memories . Might see if will still run in 2020.

You are probably going to face the w_char bug:
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/28093
https://forums.splashdamage.com/t/etqw-oddities-with-glibc-2-15-fix/139035

It is not entirely game breaking, but annoying and hard to resolve.
