Interesting article from game dev

Charles Games, who GoL have covered in the past, have an interesting article up about their experiences.

QuoteTo be honest, the effort to port our game natively to Linux was not so big and the community was very supportive. The level of enthusiasm you get from dedicated Linux players is overwhelming, with players buying for example two copies straight away just so they can support your efforts in taking Linux as a platform seriously.

Visibility amongst game devs that we are a viable market is always nice to see.

That's an interesting article, thanks.

There's so much positivity and goodwill and enthusiasm in Linux, now just to find a way to crack that fscking 1 per cent.
The big problem still is most developers have workflow and tools that are based on Windows. They won't switch to Linux and Vulkan without a big incentive.

Valve's Proton is a workaround for that.

I love what Valve does for Linux gaming but I think Linux gaming is still very vulnerable. What happens if Valve suddenly stops their push for Linux?

There is a good argument here toward a set-your-own-price payment model. Isn't that what ended up happening in the early days of humble bundle, with Linux family OS buyers being the most generous?
