How to setup OpenMW for modern Morrowind on Linux / SteamOS and Steam Deck
How to install Hollow Knight: Silksong mods on Linux, SteamOS and Steam Deck
My eldest son had a very bad math test, and to motivate him, my wife promised him that he could finally play fortnite if his next test is a good mark (note 2 or better in germany). The good thing is that it worked perfectly. He got a very gppd on the next test. The bad thing is - as far as i know there is no way to get fortnite running on a linux machine.
We are all-linux for three years now, so... he was a very sad about it. That leaves me with two options:
- get and old PC, throw windows on it and make it a fortnite-only machine
- get this !$x! piece of software running on his Linux Mint machine.
So, i thought, if anyone knows about this - its this community. Can someone give me a hint, or do i have to hear the devil's laugh while i install windows 10 again on an old machine?
Well.. Fortnite is blocked by DRM which specifically checks for Linux to block it, it's Epic Games, so that's expected since they hate Linux users with a passion. But, you've got a few options depending on your tolerance levels. Your first mentioned option is certainly plausible, if you can tolerate windows long enough. Another option is consoles, perhaps. A console is better than windows perhaps? Since Fortnite is available on Playstation 4 as well.
Otherwise, if you have good internet and wish to keep to Linux only. Both Amazon Luna and Geforce Now feature Fortnite, so it's possible to play a streamed version of the game on Linux from those services, and since it's a streamed game DRM isn't an issue as it doesn't run locally.
Cracks wise - There is no current legitimate crack for the game which properly removes the DRM (I just checked in uh, places.). With the game being online only, you can expect that any versions you find are probably fake, cheat tools or riddled with crap. So, I suggest not trying to take that route.
Good luck! :D
This really helps, thank you! :)
