Arrowhead Game Studios have just launched a major update to the popular co-op shooter HELLDIVERS 2, and with that there's many new enemies to face along with more customization options.

The game is still running rather nicely on Linux too, with the anti-cheat being enabled for Linux since the original release. Not just that, but it's also 31% off on Fanatical right now during their big sale which might actually be the lowest price for it so far.

Main highlights include:

  • New Illuminate faction enemies.
  • New Weapon Customizations and Progression.
  • Crash fixes.
  • Weapon fixes.
  • Miscellaneous fixes.

I've put a ridiculous amount of hours into HELLDIVERS 2 at this point and I'm going to play a lot more thanks to this update. I still think they have one of the best implementations of a "battle pass" compared to most other games, with no time-limited silliness and they stick around so you can claim stuff from them whenever you wish.

Have you been playing it on Linux recently? How's your experience been?

When they released the Illuminate, the game lost all the fun for me somehow.

The new, updated Illuminate faction is superb, but it's the weapon progression that re-ignited my love of this game. 350 hours now.

One of the greatest co-op games of all time, I think.

I played yesterday a few missions, dude, the leviathans are ruthless. I needed like 5 or 6 javelins/recoilless to take one down, at the end I decided to ignore them and try to avoid contact. Also, the flesh amalgamations (I don't know their name xD) are soooo tanky too, the first time I saw one running at me and not dying after a full clip I almost left a brown mark on my chair, I don't know why it scared me that much but I loved it.

And like scaine said, the new weapon progression hooked me too, I want to level up my favs, try different attachment combinations and see how differently the behave.

A great game is getting better and better.

Let's kick those squids out of our home planet!
