Sometime in 2024 a publisher called BD Games was banned from Steam, taking with it numerous smaller games. Bioprototype from Emprom Game recently returned to Steam without a publisher, and it's free to claim and keep for a while.
In a post on Steam the developer explained a bit more about situation, apologizing for their own poor handling of it, and so to make up for it the game is free to claim and keep until July 20th while they work on the sequel Bioweaver.
What is it? A Vampire Survivor-like auto-shooter with a unique evolution system where you add and change your organs to keep on getting stronger. You end up chaining together various different types of abilities, that all work together to build up some seriously crazy attack-patterns. It's definitely an interesting take on the survivor-like genre and worth a go. The amount of customization you get from it is quite impressive.

Why was the publisher banned?
There doesn't seem to be much information about it. Only reason I was able to find that there were fake reviews. But even that was guess from a Reddit poster. I guess though if reason was something like that and developers tell what the reason was, they acknowledge that they were complicit in the scheme.
As for the game, it has some learning curve. The organ system is not explained in full, but each organ has some text that describes the rules. I was able to glimpse into bit wackier stuff already. There's some rarity system, so I might not seen the best stuff yet.
Seems bit unpolished overall.
