Quite a surprise. 1047 Games recently launched the free to play Splitgate 2 in Beta on Steam, initially with their anti-cheat RedKard blocking Desktop Linux but allowing the Steam Deck with SteamOS. Now they've tweaked it to allow Desktop Linux players in.
They've been dealing with some big server issues since the May 22nd launch, which seems to be getting smoother now.
In a post on Steam titled "The State of Splitgate 2" they noted these changes:
- Purchases have been restored & the system is working
- If you're still missing items contact Support (http://support.splitgate.com)
- XP is now active (we've also turned on Double XP)
- Sometimes XP is delayed but it is still going through
- The Beta now supports players on Linux thru Proton
- We're working on a Free Survivor Pack for all Beta Players (more info to share in the coming days)
- Challenges are our next priority, when they're back up, we'll be increasing the tickets earned so people can still complete the Battle Pass in time
We're still working hard, & we won't stop until we make things right. Thanks for your feedback, patience & continued support.
Testing out the Beta on Desktop Linux (Kubuntu 25.04) with the latest Proton 9.0-4, there was no mouse movement in matches but a controller did work. However, mouse movement did work in the menus, so that's an odd one.
Our anti-cheat page has been updated to note the new status.
