Steam Beta adds controller support icons for game capsules on SteamOS

Valve have updated the Steam Beta for all platforms with bug fixes, and a controller support info tweak for SteamOS.

For devices using SteamOS that aren't the Steam Deck (like the Legion Go S), Steam will now show controller support icons on top of game capsules next to the SteamOS Compatibility rating. It's a small change, but should make it easier to see what's playable on SteamOS with a controller at a glance. I don't have a non-Steam Deck SteamOS device to show right now though.

As an example below, you can see the game capsules in Steam Big Picture mode and when you hover over them the types of input they support will show in an icon in the bottom corner.

Pictures show Nubby's Number Factory only supports keyboard / mouse, and Nimrods supports gamepad controllers. So on SteamOS devices, it will show those and now additionally also an icon for SteamOS compatibility next to them. Whereas on Steam Deck, it simply shows the Deck Verified status symbol.

The Desktop changelog:

General

  • Fixed main client window ordering above some modal dialogs when clicked (e.g. cloud file conflict dialogs).

  • Fixed main client window being focused for certain kinds of links opened from chat windows.
  • Fixed regression causing friends list window to close when switching from offline to online.

In-Game Overlay

  • Styles and font have been updated on the in-game FPS counter when enabled.
  • Fixed game notes not refreshing automatically when modified in another session.
  • Fixed content in pinned game notes windows shifting when entering and exiting the overlay.

macOS

  • Steam Client and Steam Helper apps now run natively on Apple Silicon.
  • Fixed icons not being set automatically for non-Steam games.
  • Fixed game icon file dialog not allowing correct types to be selected.

Icons in the shape of capsules communicating information about game features/status. So... game capsule icons? I guess the similar term "badges" does not get the specification badge icons, if it is clear enough from the context.
