Sony remove purchase restrictions for multiple major PC games

Sony finally seeing some sense. They've removed the purchase restrictions on multiple major PlayStation PC releases.

It has been quite a messy situation, starting off from HELLDIVERS 2, which was supposed to force a PlayStation Network login. However, the release had lots of server issues and so they relaxed the rule while it was all getting sorted. Eventually they planned to force it but gave up on that due to public outcry.

Back in January, Sony finally relented on the forced PlayStation Network requirement for their PC ports. That started with the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PC, instead offering some in-game benefits if you chose to link up your accounts.

Now they've removed many country restrictions from God of War Ragnarök, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and HELLDIVERS 2. However, they have added Russia as a restriction now. Some Deluxe Edition upgrades still have restrictions on them at time of writing.

Why now then? Well, look at Stellar Blade. The developer announced it's sold over 1 million on PC within three days and doesn't force any accounts on you.

If you give more people the ability to buy them, games will sell more. Who could have predicted this?

I just hope they don't conflate "big sales" to "must use Denuvo". I'm still disappointed by that. I'd have bought Stellar Blade otherwise though.

I guess I'll just keep playing Clair Obscur, Tainted Grail, Monster Train 2 and Dune:Awakening, eh? It's been an expensive June.

the main issue is that their service was not avaliable in many countries, you just couldnt purchase their games there.
