Wasteland Bites is an upcoming questionable cooking sim set in the post-apocalypse. It looks thoroughly weird and I want it now. Coming from CosmicDev, who previously released the also very weird FPS Cosmic Call.

With visuals that look like they would fit on the PS1 or N64, it's looks like a treat for people who love that era and for players who want their games to be that extra bit bizarre. Here you're on the clock until midnight, serving up increasingly strange meals to even stranger looking customers. You have to balance cooking with staying alive by "dodging horrors, managing your nerves, and trying not to completely lose your mind".

More about it:

"YOU GOT FOOD? I GOT MOUTH."

Hungry weirdos are lining up, and it’s your job to feed them. Toast, bowls, shish kebabs—raw or cooked, rotten or radioactive—you’ll serve them all, no matter how freaky their faces or their appetites.

It’s all part of the gig. Keep your truck moving, survive each stop, and maybe—just maybe—you’ll make it to that legendary non-irradiated beach on the horizon...

Highlights:

  • Survival cooking gameplay with a pressure-based stress system.
  • Unpredictable customers with weird requests and weirder appearances.
  • A variety of wasteland locations with their own dangers and monsters.
  • Tense, atmospheric gameplay with a darkly humorous tone.

It's due out in October.

I did this for real. Can't imagine why I would want to simulate it virtually ...

Still, for those that have never experienced professional cooking or who might thrive under that kind of pressure, it sounds like it might be fun ...
