The criminally overlooked turn-based roguelike shoot-em-up Glass Cannon just got a lot bigger

It should be criminal for a game as good as Glass Cannon to see so few players and Steam reviews, because it's simply awesome.

A game I highlighted back in early May as the idea of it really suckered me right in. It's a chilled-out turn-based shoot-em-up roguelike with wild weapon combos with a certain Balatro flair for the style of the interface. There's nothing else like it I've played before and I keep coming back to it for another run, it was firmly worth the paltry £4.29 I paid for it.

The Cannons Update arrived Sunday adding in a whole lot of extra content including:

  • 6 new cannons.
  • A brand new Plus (+) shaped arena.
  • The Atom challenge.
  • Weapon PIcker instead of Weapon Wheel.
  • New revive mechanic.
  • Reworked difficulties for the Electron and Quark challenges.
  • Quality of life improvements.

One thing it is missing is controller support, although it works okay on Steam Deck with Steam Input. Most of my time has been on Desktop Linux with it due to this though. Good news there, is that the developer said they do plan to hook up controller support next month!

They're also planning to add in 10 more cannons, 2 more maps and 3 whole new challenge modes to the game. It's really going to keep pulling me back in.

You absolutely need to try this game, it's wonderful. It has a lot of great ideas and puts such a fun spin on a shoot-em-up. I absolutely love the way you change your build through the game, with various different types of weapons and per-weapon upgrade slots.

Really challenging too, which is part of what keeps you wanting more of it to find the best build that works for you. Not just the weapon builds though, it's the enemy layouts that make it quite puzzling to beat each level.
