Secret Agent Wizard Boy and the International Crime Syndicate really rolls off the tongue doesn't it. The Harry Potter inspired game with ridiculous physics and comedy had a big upgrade.

The Groundwork Update has rolled out for it adding in some huge changes for the game. There's now the first batch of Spy Missions, giving you a variety of tasks to complete. Some of them are pretty silly, with the devs leaning more into the comedy side of the game. The missions are optional but they will give you a Spy Emblem.

Spy Emblems are another big addition which allow you to upgrade your wizard however you like. You can equip various skills like extra health, more jumps, fall damage reduction, eat anything, flatten like a pancake and so on. You only have a limited amount to equip at once, so it's all about changing based on the situation with the developer saying "These will be especially fun next content update". The Spy Embleds can also be found throughout the world.

There's also now a proper inventory system, a new Spy Lair location to chill in that acts as a spawn point along with a machine to change your upgrades. On top of that they remade the the HUD so there's a lot of UI changes as they're now trying to polish the game. Additionally key rebinds are in and the gamepad experience should be better.

A lot more is to come with the content in this update "only about half of what we've been working on".

It's Steam Deck Playable, SteamOS Compatible and works fine on Desktop Linux with the latest Proton 9.0-4. It has an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam.

Keyboard remapping is nice, but UE really needs a huge rework of how it handles keyboard input, because I'm tired of the vast majority of UE games not supporting standard-but-not-QWERTY layouts like the standard French AZERTY layout...

EDIT: I already reported the issue to the dev, let's hope they'll be able to fix it.

The gameplay kind of reminds me of the original HP games on PC (the ones from EA) like Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets from 2002. It was a fun game but too short and there was not a lot of replayability

Wizardry stuff without the idiot transphobic author and their pseudoscience. (At least hopefully. lol)
