It was unfortunate what happened with Old School Rally when it was hit with a DMCA takedown, but thankfully the situation is solved now.
It's a reminder to game developers that if you're going to use assets from somewhere, you might not actually be getting the real rights to them — unfortunately.
The developer has announced that all 13 models of cars in the game that were affected by this issue have been replaced, with shiny new retro-looking models that perfectly fit in with the game. That's quite a bit of work for a smaller developer to get sorted in a short time and the models look great in-game.
Hopefully this hasn't derailed their previous plan to have the game finished and out of Early Access by the end of the year.

So happy that they solved this. If you are a fan of the PS1 era racing games like Colin McCrae rally or V-Rally then this is for you!

I'd think the benefits (people talk about the game) outweights the additional work.
It would've been a great marketing stunt.

Oh man, how we loved playing V-Rally, with a four-player adapter! Everybody being so stressed that we could have pressed diamonds in our backsides! ...except Sven, who felt asleep during the race.

I'll take Sega Rally on the Sega Saturn over those PSX games, thank you. 🏁
