LookPilot continues being one of the most promising (and cheapest) ways to get 6DoF head & eye tracking for gaming on Linux.
I covered it here on GamingOnLinux last week when it released, since it has some really fun features to change the way you game. Since it's webcam-based, it's easy to get it up and running too without expensive dedicated hardware and no annoying driver issues.

Across the weekend the developer released the "Linux Compatibility Update" with lots of improvements for the detection systems on Linux, and making the app easier to run:
Protocol changes
Auto protocol
- No manual bash script launch required anymore.
- Faster game discovery.
- Improved compatibility across games.
- Replaced Game Process setting with Wine Prefix setting.
Freetrack protocol
- Improved compatibility across games.
- Renamed freetrack (Proton) → freetrack (Wine).
- For Other launcher type, changed Tool Path setting → Wine Executable setting.
Bug fixes
- Fixed: visualization cube not showing for some users.
- Fixed: auto protocol JSON decode error.
- Fixed: app crash on resize on Linux.
- Bug reports now include more comprehensive logs.
They also said the demo version has been extended to 14 days to give you more time to test it and report any issues.

I tested it with Euro Truck Simulator on my laptop. Couldn't get the process listed with the native version. But the Proton version works.
Only downside is that I saw my own ugly mug after switching on the camera.

Tested with success on ETS2 and rFactor 2, they won my money!
Looking forward to an expanded support library, though.
