Mewgenics looks to be very interesting from the creators of The Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy and The End is Nigh. Just recently, they put up a 50 minute gameplay video giving us the best look yet at the upcoming game. And, it also has a release date now so it will be out February 10th, 2026.

What is it? An endless cat breeding RPG. You level up a team and venture far from home collecting unique items, defeating bosses, gaining mutations and then return home to breed and further your bloodline. Sounds pretty wild.

There's a ridiculous amount of info to take in from the gameplay reveal, and it's only part one with more to come. This first video focuses on the start of the game but there's a lot more to it. And, going by comments on Reddit from developer Edmund McMillen, they plan to have it fully Steam Deck supported at release with testers already playing it on Deck.

This brings me back to Indie Game: The Movie, where Edmund and Tommy were a big part of it, and I think Edmund talked about Mewgenics after the success of the movie and Super Meat Boy. Nice to see it getting a release soon.

Quite some nostaliga coming up... as back then Linux gaming was very special, with Humble Indie Bundle being a major source of native Linux games.
