Going back to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is probably going to feel like quite a different game, and that actually excites me again.
They just released another major free upgrade for the game finally adding in night vision goggles, along with some other gameplay enhancements. This was one of my major requests to add, so I'm pleased to see it made it in. There's also offset aiming, a laser pointer, updates to the combat systems, NPCs can loot mutants noew, a new Fireball anomaly, controller improvements, a save backup and restore option, new face and hair options for female characters, improved modding support and lots of fixes to the game overall.

Most of my original review still stands on most of it but it does appear that the game has seen vast improvements to lots of it since the release. I'm definitely going to be going back through.
