More major updates coming to Minecraft - some highlights from Minecraft Live (September 2025)

Minecraft Live has again come and gone (twice a year now), so here's just some of what's coming to the popular open-world game with major updates planned.

Firstly, The Copper Age releases on September 30th, so tomorrow you'll be able to dive into the latest update for the game. This will bring Copper Bars, Copper Chain, Copper CHest, Copper Golem Statue, Copper Lantern, Copper Torch and many more Copper related items. The Shelf is going to be a highlight as a new storage block allowing you to stack items in your fancy little house, along with the Copper Armour set and especially the Copper Golem that will help you sort through your Chests.

Another big update coming is Mounts of Mayhem arriving later this year. This will bring the Nautilus, an underwater mount mob that allows you to fully explore the watery depths of Minecraft. Much like the Happy Ghast, you can build from it, and you won't lose oxygen while riding it. There will also be a Zombie Nautilus, which can be mounted by the Drowned. So underwater fights are about to get interesting…

Mounts of Mayhem will also add a new tiered weapon, the Spear, which allows you to craft it from different materials with each one acting in a slightly different way which sounds fun. It also has two different kinds of attacks with a jab or a charged attack, and if you go faster (like on a mount) it will hit harder. You're going to need it too, as Zombie Horses are finally making their way into survival mode in Minecraft with the update.

Quite excited about all the planned stuff to come, might finally be time for me to start up a new world with the family. Such a great game to play with others.

I'm expecting Vibran Visuals... The fact that they only implemented it on Bedrock and as Java user we still have to wait... emoji

I'd wish I had bought Bedrock before Java.

as Java user we still have to wait...
As Java users we have access to the far superior Minecraft experience anyway, heavily modded and with launchers like Modrinth.
I honestly find it hard to get excited about anything vanilla MC anymore, as the modded experience has just advanced so far beyond it with hundreds of more creatures, biomes, weapons, RPG systems, village management and whatever else you want.
It is great that they are expanding the game, but 90% of the time I just think "I've had this and so much more for ages".
