Check out the demo for the physics-driven co-op action-RPG Cloudheim

Coming from Noodle Cat Games, Cloudheim is shaping up to be an impressive physics-driven co-op action-RPG.

What is it? A rather vibrant action-RPG built for co-op chaos and based around creative physics-based combat. You can play solo or with up to 4 total players online. It has a destructible world, which makes the combat in it quite explosive and fun with you able to tear down pillars on top of enemies, throw them into tornadoes or just kick an exploding barrel their way.

The fresh Cloudheim demo offers access to the game's tutorial, your airborne base of operations (Odin Shell, which is literally the back of a flying turtle), and Acts I & II of the story. This includes most of the island of Arcadia and the first few dungeons. Seems like quite a generous amount of content for the demo.

A new trailer has also been launched for the demo:

Game Highlights:

  • Physics-Driven Combat: Lasso, launch, and juggle enemies into fire pits, each other, or the scenery—anything goes. Longer air time = more damage.
  • Real-Time Crafting & Fusion: Grab and toss materials directly into crafting stations in the world. No menus, no inventory clutter—just pure, visible teamwork.
  • Drop-In 4-Player Co-Op: Tame creatures, fight bosses, and explore mythic dungeons with friends. All loot is shared; your progression is not.
  • Evolving Base & Shop System: Return from adventures to upgrade your base, sell loot, and unlock new features.
  • Stylized Fantasy World: Built by a team of experienced artists, Cloudheim is rich with visual flair, character, and discovery.

From the press release: "Cloudheim is a game all about physics-systems combining in unexpected ways as teams of differently built characters combine their powers in hectic battles," said David Hunt, CEO and Founder of Noodle Cat Games. "It’s like Smash Bros. had a baby with Zelda, as you explore a sprawling fantasy kingdom full of danger, wonder, and surprises around every corner! This demo will give players a taste of the exciting adventures that await them when Cloudheim launches on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S"

It should work nicely with the latest Proton on Linux.

However, just to be clear they do make use of generative AI in the production of the game. As noted on the Steam page down at the bottom it states:

During the development process, we may use procedural- and AI-based tools to assist with content creation. In all such cases, the final product reflects the creativity and expression of our own development team.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

During the development process, we may use procedural- and AI-based tools to assist with content creation. In all such cases, the final product reflects the creativity and expression of our own development team.

I remember some discussion a while back about what this means in layman's terms, but I don't remember what article the discussion was on. Can anyone translate for me?

My actual question: is the final product going to include art or writing from generative-AI?

Didn't spot that before, have added the note to the article. A shame, I try to stay away from any games with AI notes. Going to have to put a sticky note on my monitor to check for a notice every time.

Does this means that the story is going to be weak? Not designed for co-op campaign always makes me sad.
