Valve put up a release candidate for Proton 10.0-4 with lots more Linux / SteamOS gaming fixes

Valve put up a Release Candidate for testing Proton 10.0-4, what will become the main version of the Windows compatibility layer for Linux / SteamOS. The special sauce that enables so many thousands of games to run nicely.

Most of the changes would have already been in Proton Experimental. To test it out you can opt into the Beta on Proton 10 directly in your Steam Library. Valve are interested in finding any issues that didn't happen with the current Proton 10.0-3.

All the other fixes and improvements include:

  • Fixed Agatha Christie: Evil Under the Sun not being playable in French.
  • Fixed Far Cry 5 showing old GPU drivers warning with AMD gpus.
  • Fixed music playback in Transcendence.
  • Fixed Mystery Manor: Hidden Objects not displaying anything on gamescope.
  • Fixed HDR in Far Cry 5 on OLED Steam Decks.
  • Fixed Crystal of Atlan crashing on dekstops.
  • Fixed broken account switching in Crystal of Atlan with gamescope.
  • Fixed Adventures Of Fluzz wrongly displaying "No Device" window which made game unplayable with gamescope.
  • Fixed Marvel Rivals crashing in benchmark with AMD GPUs.
  • Fixed Assassin's Creed Shadows and Wild Assault incorrectly warning about being installed on a HDD.
  • Fixed long wait on every launch of many Xbox Game Studios games including Avowed, Grounded 2, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and The Outer Worlds 2.
  • Fixed Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen crashing on system with long Steam Library path.
  • Fixed in-game browser in Figmin XR.
  • Fixed server / lobby listing in Men of War II.
  • Fixed Ara: History Untold displaying GPU error.
  • Fixed Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 crashing with monitors that support many resolutions.
  • Fixed Arc Riders stutter on systems with non-Nvidia GPUs due to the game seeing and trying to continually load nvapi.
  • Improved support for Sony controllers in Tekken 8.
  • Fixed haptics support for DualSense controllers which should now work in most games that support it.
  • Fixed audio playback in Rocket Jockey.
  • Fixed For Honor not starting on non-Steam Decks.
  • Fixed store in For Honor not working on desktops.
  • Fixed in-game screenshot feature in Mohrta.
  • Fixed Cladun X3 hanging on exit.
  • Fixed Tempest Rising hanging on exit.
  • Fixed Rocket Jockey not being playable on some installation.
  • Fixed Xalia not interacting correctly with dialogs produced by ARC Raiders.
  • Fixed ARC Raiders stutter when changing game settings on some system.
  • Fixed Atelier Resleriana [JP] not working on certain setups.
  • Added support for speech recognition in Phasmophobia.
  • Fixed video playback in Okayunyumu! and AQUARIUM.
  • Fixed Assassin's Creed Shadows not being playable after a recent game update.
  • Fixed language selection not working in Black Squad's launcher.
  • Fixed black blocks in dialog windows created by ARC Raiders and The Finals.
  • Fixed voice line playback in Rigid Force Alpha.
  • Fixed 7.1 audio channel mapping in Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR'S CUT, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and potentially many other games.
  • Fixed horizontal mouse scroll being incorrectly registered as back / forward buttons.
  • Fixed Thai font rendering in Warframe's launcher.
  • Fixed Revolver360 Re:Actor crashing on keyboard input.
  • Fixed text input in Secrets of Grindea.
  • Fixed video playback in Conquer the World.
  • Fixed a crash in Marvin's Mittens after the cutscenes.
  • Fixed Sword of the Stars: The Pit crashing when clicking an enemy.
  • Fixed Lemma randomly crashing.
  • Fixed Ukrainian and Russian font rendering in Trainatic.
  • Fixed Proton 10 regressions:
    • Video should play correctly again in King of Bones and Indivisible.
    • Sackboy: A Big Adventure should no longer display a series of errors on fresh prefix.
    • GodsArena Online is now registering touch/mouse input correctly.
    • Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is playable again.
    • Killer Instinct should no longer crash at the end of match.
    • Workshop integration in The Conquest of Go should work again.
    • CHRONO TRIGGER should no longer flicker in full screen mode.
    • Camera panning should work as expected in Dungeons & Dragons Online.
    • Blood Rush should no longer crash with new proton prefixes.
  • Added support for SteamWorks SDK 1.63.
  • Updated Wine Mono to 10.4.0.
  • Updated vkd3d-proton to v3.0b.
  • Updated vkd3d to 1.18.

It might have been a regression in 10 that didn't exist before. Nothing to worry over - I've seen that said about a few games I've had perfectly good experiences with!
