Ghostship was a recent announcement from the HarbourMasters team bringing a new Super Mario 64 PC port, and now there's a fresh release with a Linux version. This could end up being the best way to play the Nintendo classic on PC, not approved by Nintendo in any way of course like previous releases from HarbourMasters.

What's changed in version 1.0.1:

  • Added Linux debug build as release download (same functionality as a release build, just may have slight performance hit)
  • Fixed Intro music
  • Fixed HMC objects not spawning
  • Fixed some JP dialogs
  • Fixed first-time events (Lakitu, Bowser message into lobby) not saving
  • Added Alt Assets toggle to menu, default to on
  • Fixed Metal renderer crashing with fanish cap
  • Fixed demos, but added the playability as an enhancement
  • Linux builds set to debug to allow release
  • Numerous HD texture and font fixes (see full changelog for details)
  • Added Skip Lakitu Intro enhancement

I am actually surprised that so far Nintendo has not come after them with multiple projects available. We've seen Nintendo go after less and get them taken down. Perhaps due to the way they're done with the libultraship project, and needing to acquire the original games is enough to keep Nintendo lawyers away.
