Quite often I visit random games I like the look on Steam and dive into the community looking for posts mentioning Linux. It turns out that Stardrift Nomads [Steam, Official Site], a really good looking dual-stick shooter should be coming to Linux.

In this case, a user requested a Linux version back in April, so I fired off a message of support yesterday and the developer replied with:
QuoteHey LiamD,

We havn't forgotten about the Linux fans! We have made some progress with the build and if all goes well we should have full support up and live soon! We'll make the annoucement once we know for sure. Stay tune!!!

I wasn't expecting something so positive so soon, fantastic.

I think it looks really good and the action certainly looks like it will be intense! Customizable ships too, which always makes a game more interesting.

It's not just a standard bullet-hell type game either, it actually has a campaign to play through, with you protecting some sort of colony. It definitely looks like an interesting addition to the genre.

About the game
QuoteStardrift Nomads is a dual-stick shooter with a focus on cooperative play and retro action. Build and upgrade a variety of unique towers to protect your base from vicious pirates and massive asteroids. Customize one of three ship classes to fit your play style, utilizing a slew of upgradable abilities and equipment. Team up with your friends and seize victory with up to eight players!
