The OP Rainbow 26 Jun @ 7:45pm
It's such a hassle to run Parallels or Bootcamp. A native Mac build would make everyone's lives so much easier. The super dedicated Mac gamers use those programs, but really, the vast majority do not and need real ports in order to play these games.
The OP Rainbow 30 Jun @ 9:35am
Trying to get this game to run on Play on Mac... it's a bloody nightmare. There really isn't a solution to this, aside from a native Mac version.
Might as well add to the pool,
+1 for Mac.

The OP Rainbow, we're looking into it but nothing is confirmed.
They were talking about a Mac version.
I hope the developer was talking about a Mac AND Linux version though.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition For Linux Is Still Planned
By Shmerl, 4 July 2014 at 8:51 pm UTC
Is it still? Someone told me that stopped offering a direct purchase. Also, using some extra client's isn't the best idea as well.
By Shmerl, 4 July 2014 at 8:51 pm UTC
Quoting: hummer010The windows version is entirely DRM free. If you purchase it from BeamDog, you need to use the DeamDog client to download the game. The game itself is DRM free to run after that, but you still need the client for updates.

I doubt it's coming out anytime soon, they been mentioning Linux support for 2 years now I think? And despite putting this game on an updated infinity engine, they're more buggy than the original games.
Anyway, I rather GoG work on wine ports for the BG games. At least my favorite mods will be compatible with those ports.

I'm also on Arch 64-bit with nvidia (GTX765M), but I can't get the configuration utility to run. It crashes with a few "wrong ELF class" messages. Did you have to do anything special to get it to run?

Quoting: GuestWorks nicely on Arch Linux 64 bit, GTX 660, with maximum settings. Alt-tab works in the menues.
Only problems I’ve noticed:
- ~/.mbwarband/ directory instead of ~/.config/mbwarband/
- thinks my keymap is qwerty
- infinite loop at exit, you have to kill the process.

I have both Metro 2033 and Last Light. Metro 2033 works fine with wine, so I've played both. I'm not sure there is enough value in the redux's to bother buying them.

I'm pretty hopeful of it. Trent Oster has mentioned it in the baldursgate forum several times. Both of the EE games work perfectly with wine, but a native version is always preferred.
I pre-bought both of the EE games - I wonder if I will have to purchase Linux versions, or if we will get them as part of the previous purchase?

Does anyone know what is the difference between Metro last light and Metro last light redux? For the Linux versions of course. As far as I can tell Metro last light is OpenGL 3.x where the windows version supports OpenGL 4.x features (tessellation).

Quoting: HamishIf this becomes native and is not tied to Steam I will probably give it a go, since I have never actually played a Bioware title despite them being loved by so many people and actually being based nearby in Edmonton. Got into Linux gaming too late for Neverwinter Nights, so maybe this can be my introduction.Since Neverwinter Nights exists natively for Linux, I hope GOG can work some magic and get it running on modern Linux distributions instead of just wrapping it up. What do you think? Would GOG be so kind?

Already pre-orded, and ordered a GTX 770 yesterday which hopefully will be able to handle it. :p
Hopefully it will be better then the original M:LL release, never got to finish it due to the game keeps crashing. :( Haven't tried it in while though, anyone knows if it got fixed?

This endeavour will be native, correct? I already own all of Baldur's Gate on GOG so once GOG introduces Linux support later this year, I should be able to play the game. Not natively, of course, since they are old, but still.

I pre ordered both, to play them on GNU/Linux. And as I already own Metro 2033, I had the Redux version half-price. :D
