Indie Royale Summer Bundle

Ok so not to be rude to you or anything but really. You have no idea what hard ware I have and this is the first game in along time that I have had a in game issue like this. With out the developers wanting to try to work it out they just gave up. I can not see it being a driver issue but with out them going over some stuff there is no way to find out. I understand that no game is perfect but holly HELL.
Look at Overgrowth that game has been in development for what almost 2 years. Hell look at any operating system it may come out with bugs but at least they are willing to work bugs out. Look at Harvest it was way to much of a pain in the but to get working. Look at Limbo on the humble bundle. That game has sound issues and there is TONS of people with the same issue for sound there. It's funny I know a lot about Linux (Ubuntu) and I tell you if I was a new user and had this much issues I would go back to windows. If you want new users to drop Windows for Linux then you have to make it as easy to do that. But we look at of its a driver issue not the programs fault. If that was the case then Windows would be the best OS out there. But nope they come out with TONS of patch's.
Hell look and Limbo they know there is a issue and will not fix it right either. But for them to get Humble Bundle money they quickly put a Linux version with a emulator on it. Sorry if you are not willing to put effort into a linux game (and there are companies that are putting effort into it) then don't put it out.

Okay, in general, anything that causes your system to hang is a driver bug. It should not matter what crazy things an application does, it shouldn't cause a hang. It can be worked around in the app of course, but it's usually better to focus on fixing the drivers.

The two bugs stop the game and you can not do anything but restart computer. It is when you look at the cash register and when you get the ceiling fan. I have tried this on two different computers and was able to get it to crash both times. Just frustrated that first the humble bundle games was not working right and not this bundle games don't work right. I even had issues getting Harvest to work right.

Quoting: "MarkMcKinnon, post: 4835"It seems that they do not care about fixing issues in there game and to just give me a refund. That really does suck because I really liked playing this game.

Just small stuff or something that stops you from playing the game?

We'll I just found tow bugs in The Journey and let the developers know about it and here is there response

"Hi Mark,
sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I was hoping to hear from our programmer that this was something we could solve, but he seems to prefer not picking at it at this stage. Hence, we'd rather give you a refund.
Did you get contact with the folks over at indie royale? Could they help you with a refund somehow?
Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience.

So I tried out the demo of Harvest, seems like it could be pretty cool, only did the tutorial level so far though.

The art is great, and although short i have to say easily one of the best indie games I have played this year.

The character art is too weird-looking for me and the story seems bizarre, but it's got some neat game mechanics.

32/64?

There's an update coming out when Desura finally authorizes it. See if that fixes the issue.

Hi Bumadar, does turning off occlusion query help?

I remember Shogo Hamish, I'll probably go with something similar to how Ace Combat did it though.

The new cockpit and the glass effects really make all the difference when it comes to screenshots. :)

When it comes to the dialog feeds, I would suggest that you take a look at how Shogo did it back in the day as that seems like a pretty good template for how it should be done in my opinion.

Though having an actual textbox appear with the dialog may potentially be a bit distracting for a space sim. Something I think you should think about though.

hi rusty, some remarks:

- when I press launch after mission 1 briefing I get: Segmentation fault, nothing more, nothing less.
- when pressing space to skip the intro briefing you might want to put in a " loading..." as it looks for about 5sec that it all froze up, same goes when you clock on the sector to launch (so just before the mission 1 briefing)

Doesn't work for normal users, only for guests. Can you "repair" this?

I'm not so good in english but I can write some news about Linux Games (here's my site if links are allowed). In case of language error in my articles you can correct them ;)

That's one thing about running Linux. Having questionable hardware vendor support means you really have to research before you buy (it's hard to argue that that's a negative thing anyway, though - it's always good to be aware of what you're getting).

My laptop has no bios setting at all for Optimus the bios seems quite limited :(

I shall be watching from the side line hoping to see some progress on the Optimus front and keeping a Linux partition open. I will probably install Ubuntu 12.10 and keep up to date I'm hoping it will fix my hard lock up problems too - i really want that to go away as I like to develop websites on Linux as it has everything I need so easily :(

Hamish has also kindly joined the team to hopefully do reviews (was a long time coming we looked into a couple different mods for the forum but none do the job).

If anyone else would like to be able to post news please let me know, any help while I am playing a waiting game would be awesome.

T510 W520 can switch between Intel and Nvidia in bios (or Optimus), has some limitations to output ports though.

I think there's still a moderation aspect to it, though. I submitted my update about Dirk Dashing 2 v0.9.2, and it still hasn't been posted. Doesn't look like the main page has been updated in 3 weeks.

We'll miss you, Liam. Thanks for starting this site. Hope someone takes over and keeps it going.

That said, I think it was a good move for you to allow developers to post their news and have it show up directly on the home page. That must have decreased your work load a little bit, since you didn't have to copy and paste developers' e-mails and create the news articles yourself. And devs get to share their news immediately.

Optimus sucks, see "The finger" on Slashdot recently :)
Options usually:

      Don't by Optimus laptops
Use a OS NVidia cares to support
(I can't bare Windows, so not an option for me.)
Make sure you buy a laptop capable of switching between your intergrated and your Nvidia card
(mine has this, and this is OK for me.)
      Don't buy a laptop.
(I didn't buy my laptop for gaming.)

(I can't switch without rebooting, but I'll live.)
