Game store itch seems to have a problem with people selling pirated games
13 Jul 2017 at 7:22 pm UTC

IMHO they guys from itch.io are completely nuts if they let this happen! Don't they have any verification process in place before a game is sold on their store? I hope they are aware that they can be held responsible for that if a developer decides to sue them.

Unbelievable! Not sure if I can trust this store anymore if they are that naive!

ARK: Survival Evolved has just had a price increase, it has more than doubled

LOL! Now they have gone completely insane xD. This game is such an overhyped garbage. I wish I could sell it.

The Witcher 3 didn't come to Linux likely as a result of the user-backlash from The Witcher 2

Well, just another excuse from CDPR and I'm not surprised. Instead of showing that they could do it and repair their burned reputation they only bring another excuse. So typical! I wonder if this is the reason why we still have no Linux-Version of GOG Galaxy also. Wouldn't be really surprised if so.

However other companies are able to support Linux and they getting my money. Simple as that.

The Steam Summer Sale is now live, lots of goodies

Quoting: BlackBloodRum
Quoting: stretch611The store has been slow for me all day. Pathetically slow. I do understand how overloaded their servers must be, but after all the years they have been running the sales they should have a good idea on what to expect and plan accordingly.
From a technical point of view that is impossible.
Welcome in the 21st century. It is possible. It is only a matter of money and how long it is profitable. BUT technically it is no problem.

Also meanwhile we have a user baser of of at least 160m and Steam reached a peak of 14m concurrent users at march this year. How many new users Steam gets doesn't matter esp. in scalable environment. Banks & DDOS-Protection is scalable too. Last one you can also rent, and they can handle a lot. It needed an very huge Botnet to push it over its limits (Happend this year!).

As said it is only matter of money.

But it seems Valves infrastructure is not scalable and also it seems a bit outdated. For example if they have server maintenance they are not able to transfer active sessions to another location. They have servers all over the world, and can't transfer your session at maintenance in 2017?!?!!? :dizzy: Which is very annoying if a game relies on Steam authentication and kicks you out as soon you lose connection to Steam BECAUSE of server maintenance.

GOG Connect adds more games, plus a huge summer sale now on

Quoting: SolitaryThat could work if GOG Galaxy worked on Linux...
I'd argue Galaxy is only marginally useful for current GOG users, who come to GOG to buy DRM-free games. But to gain more used to DRM Steam users, Galaxy can help. I suppose GOG don't see Linux Steam users as a major point of focus. I.e. DRM-free Linux users are already using GOG, and Steam Linux users are just a small percentage of all Steam users. So I think it's just a matter of priority. Kind of annoying for Steam Linux users I suppose, but can make sense from GOG's priority perspectives.
It's a bit more then annoying since GOG is using the client for Multiplayer-Authentication. Which results in that the Linux-Version is added single-player only if it is added at all.

However GOG should get their priorities right. My Steam-Library is meanwhile a lot bigger then my GOG-Library and I spent at least 10 times more money on Steam then on GOG.

The latest Steam Hardware Survey shows Linux market-share has increased, slightly

Quoting: themixturemediaWhen I barely get the steam survey and that is the same issue with my daughters computer. It makes you wonder how accurate the survey really is, it should be pushed out to everyone once a month.
You realize it's a survey, right? Of course it doesn't capture everyone or the same people each month. It is meant to show trends.

People seem to misunderstand what a survey does.
What I understand is that it is a crappy survey. Since Valve does this thing on Linux I had it FOUR times. On Windows it pops up every month. Also SteamOS isn't counted still. This survey is BS and has no value.

Earthlock: Festival of Magic is still heading to Linux

Quoting: lucifertdarkThey're seriously prioritising the WiiU version? Why?
WiiU has a bigger market share then Linux :(

WiiU has sold ~14 Million Units and at the moment we have currently only ~2 Million Linux Players on Steam.

:D
Na, thanks! Not interested in that DRM-****! I will stick with the first two parts :)

BTW: What ist going on itch.io? If I try to buy Maia it adds almost 60% on the sale price :O:dizzy:

Edit: Oh nice! The Steam key is a lie, and the game has pretty negative reviews now.

Some thoughts on Ziggurat
11 Apr 2017 at 4:47 pm UTC

Quoting: ziabiceZiggurat (and nearly all of the roguelike-type games) slip usually into the forgettable gameplay and you'll never try the "now this will happen, let me be prepared" sensation that the classic FPS can give you.
That is exactly what I expect from a roguelike game. I DON'T want to know what happens now. I want to enjoy the challenge of the unknown every single time :P
