Metro 2033 & Metro Last Light Getting Upgrades, Metro 2033 To Release On Linux
26 May 2014 at 10:46 am UTC

Quoting: SamI bought tbe Redux Bundle, as I really liked both Metro games. And personally I have no problem with the paying for it, especially as they offered 50% upgrade discount. And I got the original dirt cheap on a sale.

Furthermore, I want to support developers that port to Linux. The more we support them, the better the ports will get.
i do the exact same.

Having played for a while now i think that maybe the problem it's not GPU performance but CPU.
There is a huge different in frame rate in some areas, and according to this test:

The MT performance of the engine it's very important. In linux the game use only 1 core, if the developer could share the calculation in more cores maybe the game will run more fluent.

How it works in my system.
Thank you for the video.
This just reinforces my point, that doesn't look fluent to me.
There are small frame drops all over the place, and seems you even dip below 30 fps at times (during the scene with the rushing soldiers).
Most of the time you have a good fps, but then it drops at occasions.
This is not ok imo, especially since lowering the quality does not even help, even on low I get these drops in FPS and small stuttering.
For the max dettail with v-sync enable i think it's a very good result. I play the game very very well, sure they could be better, and maybe for Linux Cdproject will bring 2-3 patches to stabilize the situation.
In more closed area like jail i archive 60 solid, i'll try to switch dettails in the same area and i remake a video.

Quoting: zimHopefully they will continue working on the port, so everyone(atleast most) can get it working properly. I also hope this means we will get witcher 3 and hopefully that is native.
I think that with the first update we will see more performance and stability for sure.

Sure a native version it's the best solution.
But, as i said in the other post, the performance on my ring are good (i7 3770 and GTX770 on Ubuntu 14.04) and i see in others forum user with good results too, after proper setting the game.

What you find very unlikely it's not my problem, i post my experience, that's all, and i see i'm not alone with good experience so far.
I have also done a video of the game where you'll can view how well it runs.

I'll try tonight with my ring

I7 3770
8 Gb ram
GTX 770 4 Gb

My opinion so far:

Unfortunately they doesen't chose to convert the entire engine, but to use a mix of wrapper and dedicated code for GL extension. This is a cross between native code and one emulated by the system, which offers so performance not comparable with the Windows counterpart with the same system.

Personally, I am happy to see The Witcher 2 on Linux, I still have to explore the performance offered, and so i defile me on this aspect until I get useful data.
I can not deny that i'm little 'disappointed as many others user.

I think that in the future there will be fewer and fewer problems, it's the disadvantage of a new gaming platform.

I'll try to get the most out of my Hw to have a good experience and I will focus on that rather than thinking about how it would be nice to have a real native port, but the Mac has had the same treatment.
I hope in the same time a massive Cdproject support to improve the performance as much as possible.
