Oh man, this game. I played it a bit back in the day, but could not figure out what the heck was going on or what I was supposed to be doing? I think it was also in russian, which did not help.

Counter-Strike holds strong because it is a time-tested formula that has been refined to perfection. If Valve wants to add or change the core mechanics, they would be taking a risk of not being received positively and driving the fans away. Making it a completely separate game would allow them much more freedom to do what they want. I just hope it does not become another Battlefield of Duty.

As far as I understand, to take advantage of huge pages, the application needs to be aware of them. As in it needs to allocate the memory in a special way. Also there is quite a bit of setup and administration required, like dedicating a part of the memory to be used for huge pages. This is useful for some large (like really large) databases, but I fail to see how it would benefit anything on a general-purpose device? Unless, of course, there is something I am completely missing here.

It's really cool to see Fanatical embrace the Steam Deck like that with their bundles and Steam Deck ratings on game descriptions. It's quickly becoming my favourite store outside of Steam itself.

Oh come on, they pulled from Steam, did that blueprint/lootbox thing, killed Linux support, and completely rewrote the game, all immediately after being acquired by Epic.

It seems that Valve is really invested in KDE, judging by all the Steam Deck-related work going into it. This is great, except that as GNOME fanboy user I wish they made it easier to use another desktop environment on Steam Deck.
